Hi everyone!

So sorry I haven’t posted in a while — this last month has been crazy.  I’ve been planning this post for a few weeks so I thought I should get busy since Mother’s Day is in about 10 days.

The “Money Is No Object” List

This is my selfish girlie list of goodies that I would love to get someday.  You know, someday when we win the lottery, become independently wealthy and have no bills.  :)

1. A weekend retreat at a spa – with the works!  Massages, pedicures, manicures, facials and SLEEP!  Food would be good in between naps.
2. Keurig Platinum Brewing System – all moms know why we NEED coffee, not much explanation is needed.  Truth be told the new Mini Plus Personal Brewer is probably a better size for my kitchen but I want the special My K-cup to make my favorite coffee.  Even though the reviews aren’t great on this item, I’d still like to try it.  Would definitely have to purchase it somewhere that offers an extended warranty option because most negative comments come after the first 9-12 months of use.  And, of course I would need a huge supply and wide variety of K cups, the carousel, etc.
3. Housekeeping services for a full year – no explanation necessary!
4. momAgenda Personal Portfolio in the Crocodile print – Yes, I am still a paper planner person.  I have tried PDA’s and haven’t found one that works for me yet.  Plus, I have little ones that always want the electronic stuff and when I don’t give it to them, the crying begins.  It’s just best to avoid that for now.  I’ve tried other “mom” planner products and in my opinion, momAgenda is the best.  I really like everything they offer from the Kitchen planner, to the family planner, All-in-One folio…I just want and need one of everything!
5. Kindle eBook Reader –  complete with accessories and my full book wish list.  Easily about $1000 value.  I really do love to read, I just don’t have the time or extra money to buy all the books I want to read.  I need to start going to the local used bookstore!

The “Within My Price Range” List

OK, time to be serious.  The list above are luxury items for me right now, we have other priorities.  So the following is a short list of things that can be purchased at a store:

1. Edible Fruit Arrangement – you know, I’ve always wanted one of these.  The fruit looks so good on the commercials that it makes me crave fruit immediately.  Plus, it’s no fuss:  no cleaning, cutting, etc.
2. Chocolate covered strawberries - pure decadence in my book.  And, the funny thing is that I’m not really a fan of chocolate!  But the combination of strawberries and chocolate is hard to beat.
3. Manicure and Pedicure – there’s a nice Aveda spa close by, would love to get a couple of hours to myself.
4. Eyebrow Wax – this really isn’t a wishlist thing, it’s a necessity thing.
5. New clothes – a new top and capris would be nice for Spring.  I don’t even have time to shop for myself.  Good thing is that I’ve lost some weight, bad news is that I have to actually try the clothes on.

The Truth

All I really want for Mother’s Day is to have a good day.  You know, the kind when I can sleep in, eat a leisurely breakfast, read the newspaper and spend the day lounging.  It would be great if the kids would behave and give me hugs and kisses all day too.

I am so glad I am not alone.

I received a survey from my friends at www.WAHM-Articles.com that asked if I ever got the work at home blues.  And honestly, before I got that survey and someone asked me, I never really thought about it. 

Every once in awhile I get grumpy, and I tell my DH that he really has no idea what it’s like to be at home with the girls and work all day.  I get kinda cranky when I haven’t been out of the house for a few days. Truth be told, so do my girls.  But, for those of you who work at home know, sometimes it’s hard to get out of the house even if you really need to, especially if you have more than one child.  And I have two babies under 2 – that’s not so easy.  It is getting easier though, my baby is getting bigger and we can handle being out of the house for a while.  But a quick trip to the grocery store to get milk is still a production.

Anyway, I digress…

When you work at home, it is challenging to stay motivated and happy with your work life.  I have to admit, I miss the socialization of going to work.  I’ve said that from day one.  I have many online friends and networks I belong to, but it’s really not the same as talking to someone in person.  I try to call my online friends at least once a week to chat and catch up.  Sure, it’s mostly about work, but that’s OK, it’s all about the interaction.

I never really realized how “social” I am.  I would have never called myself a social butterfly.  But now that I don’t have the chance to interact as much as I do, I see I miss it.  So there are a few things I’ve done over the last few months to help me with this:

1. I joined a professional networking group.  I am a pending member of BNI (Business Networking International).  My application still needs to be approved, but I joined for my SendOutCards business.  I had attended a few meetings as a guest and I just loved the energy and camaraderie among the group.  Keep your fingers crossed my application is approved soon.
2. I try to meet with a girlfriend at least once a month.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.  But, I really recognized that I need to get out of the house and have some alone time every once in awhile.  It really does wonders.
3. I am actively working my SendOutCards business.  I know this sounds like an oxymoron, but I have met some AMAZING people because of SendOutCards.  Some are prospective customers, and others are distributors that I have met at events.  Either way, I have met some great people that I am proud to call my friends. 

There’s a great article about the Work at Home Blues http://wahm-articles.com/blog/2010/03/the-work-at-home-mom-blues/ .  Read it to get more ideas.  But really, all the motivation I need to remember why I am home.  I have an amazing opportunity to stay home and raise my girls.  They are only little once – so I have to enjoy this time with them.  I have watched them grow every day since they were born and that is a gift in itself.

I tried to create a Facebook Group page last year for someone.  I had NO idea what I was doing.  I tried to figure out how to create a group, engage people to join our group, set up events, the works.  It bombed.  It bombed BIG.

I can tell you first hand that it’s not a good idea to “wing it”.  I only wish that I had some instruction, some insight, some HELP to do that.  I didn’t even know that Facebook Groups were so “yesterday”.  That’s how little I knew…
