WOW – week one went by fast and slow at the same time.

OK, the important stuff first.  I am down 2 1/2 pounds – YEAH!  I am happy with this since I had a few challenges :)

The Challenges

  1. I didn’t prepare – at all to start my diet.  I did not clean the pantry and get rid of junk food.  I did not go to the grocery store to buy healthy snacks.
  2. I didn’t tell my husband – so by midweek, he was wondering why I was stressing about dinner and kept asking me if everything was OK because I was a little grouchy.
  3. I didn’t read my Weight Watchers stuff before starting.  I remembered how to calculate points, but I didn’t read my Week 1 booklet in advance.

My Accomplishments

  1. I drank a lot of water, even made my goal of 64 oz. one day out of the week!  And, I only had one soda.
  2. I moved more – and made a conscience effort to move.  I was even standing and typing…that was different.
  3. I ate 3 meals on most day with snacks.  I had been skipping meals – I know that’s wrong.  So, I had to make a big effort to eat, and the funny thing is, even though I ate more, I was actually hungrier.  What’s up with that?

So, my goal for this week is to actually start my workout DVD’s.  I’ve read each and everyone’s post and messages on Twitter.  First of all, thank you so much for your support.  But second, and most important, I am beginning to understand the importance of losing the weight not for me, but for my girls.  I realize that it’s not just about me, but about teaching them healthy eating and exercising habits.  This is a big revelation for me.  Since I will do anything for my girls, this was exactly the motivation and explanation I needed.  So thank you everyone, especially Leah aka Bookieboo…I get it.

Until next week!

P.S.  Just in case you missed my update on Twitter, the Hydracoach will be on sale this weekend (2/5 – 2/7) for $9.99 at Tuesday Morning stores.  Visit http://www.TuesdayMorning.com to see if there’s a store near you.  I am going to try to get one early on Friday morning before they sell out. I just need to find a babysitter :)

  • I'm so glad you "get it" my darling. Because once that sinks in, you won't really NEED us cause you will have all the right motivation. You will just need us to help guide you in the right direction. The weight will come off, but the weight won't be important to you anymore..it'll be about the lifestyle. Just remember you have to learn to walk before you can run. XXOO

Congrats on the 2.5 pounds. That is pretty remarkable for as little preparation as you said you had. I am glad you are realizing the healthy mom/healthy family connection. It is a great motivator. In time it will also simply feel like a rush for you to be as healthy as you can be for yourself.

  • You're doing so well, and you've hit the motivation payload - your daughters need to see you making good food choices and making working out a fact of life, not something you do when you're "dieting". Keep it up!
  • Great job for not being prepared....2.5 pounds! Go you!

You've got a great list of accomplishments...they will all help you attain your goals. Next weeks update will be even better, because you will be prepared
  • Yeah for you. Your post is motivating me go workout right now during my lunch break as part of one of my goals, which is to move more.
  • Congrats on your lbs. lost! Staying focused and keeping small goals is the best thing to making sure you stay on track. You are doing fantastic!! Keep it up.

  • I think it's super easy to skip meals too. It's good you're focusing on not doing that!

  • Good job on the loss, moving and getting in more water!!! Sounds like you are getting more prepared now and will have a good week...try to think of all the healthy stuff you will be getting in your body and not focusing on what you will be missing, that will help you stay positive and be happier about meals.
  • Hey...not planning can sometimes be a good thing. Im proud of you for jumping in, and staying focused!
  • Congrats on the 2.5 that is fantastic. I have joined WW 8-9 times, really, and but I am an old hat on points. Right now I am doing calories via sparkpeople but really its all about what works for you. You work it girl!
  • Hey girl! If you're eating a lot and still hungry it probably has more to do with what you're eating, not how much. If you're eating alot of refined grains etc, that'll make you hungrier and it won't satisfy you. Try swapping white rice or pasta with whole grain (100% whole grain stuff--read the labels trust me). It'll help bunches!

Great job and Welcome to Mamavation! I try to keep the weight watchers points in my mind some, but I focus on eating healthy and don't hold myself to it. Hope you have a successful week and get to those DVD's! We are here for you!
