March Has Been an Expensive Appliance Month

March has been quite an expensive month – each week I have had to replace a small appliance.

Week 1 – my hair dryer

Week 2 – my flat iron (see my awful shopping experience at A Bad Customer Service Day)

Week 3 (yesterday as a matter of fact) my blender

…sigh…

I have been on a roll – an expensive one at that!  Seriously, how does someone have this many small appliance issues in one month?

I guess it was just great timing.  The hair dryer was about 6 months old (which is the average life for me), my flat iron was about 3 months old but I got it for like $12 because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money if I wasn’t going to use it, and my blender was at least 10 years old (although we’ve rarely used it until recently.)

So now I need to shop for a new blender, although I think I’d prefer a Magic Bullet or Ninja Blender.  Do you own one?  What do you think?  My parents had a Magic Bullet and loved it, but it seems so small.  They are both around $50 so I am just wondering which is better and why.  So if you have an opinion, please let me know.  I’ll have to get a new one this weekend.

Until then, I have to use a hand shaker to make my protein shakes.  YUCK!

Does anyone know of any reviews/giveaways on the Magic Bullet or Ninja?  I’d love to see the post (and enter of course!)  :)

I LOVE the Magic Bullet – but its because I really only blend one cup of anything at a time… like my Visalus shakes! I do have a “real” blender for everything else…. like ummm, margaritas, LOL

Another thing you might consider is one of those stick blenders; I LOVE mine & it just goes in the dishpan to clean up (most of the time) and then stores in the drawer.

Thanks Ann, I actually have one of those and I don’t like it because it makes a mess. Apparently I’m domestically challenged and need a lid. HA! :)

Oh Natalie, I have seen this at the specialty store and wondered if it really worked. Good to know :) Thanks!

I like it because it’s so compact for my Visalus shakes too and easy to clean, but wondered if could really do anything else with it. I’m not sure what else I would make with it at this point but you know, trying to think ahead. I don’t need a specialty appliance for everything, I need multi-taskers. :)
